As a Communications Associate at Global Health Strategies, Kim Swanson designs and helps manage strategic communications campaigns for a range of pharmaceutical and NGO clients. She specializes in strategy development, business planning, and stakeholder outreach.
From 2006-2007 Ms. Swanson spent a year conducting research as Thomas J. Watson Fellow on the impact of participation in microcredit programs on women's sexual bargaining power and economic empowerment in developing countries. Her research took her across sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.
Prior to joining GHS, Ms. Swanson worked on communications strategy and media outreach at DATA (Debt, AIDS, Trade, Africa), the organization founded by U2 singer Bono to advocate for Africa. Her work for DATA took her to the 2005 G8 summit in Gleneagles, Scotland where she helped manage communications outreach.
Before working at DATA, Ms. Swanson also helped design a female condom distribution program for female refugees in Cote D'Ivoire, Liberia, and Sierra Leone as an intern at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). She holds a B.A. in Mathematical Economic Analysis from Rice University.
